FAQ

Walnuts

How are your walnuts different from the kinds I can get at the grocery store?

Our walnuts have been through a patented process which removes the thin layer of skin that causes most people to think walnuts are bitter — using just water, no artificial preservatives.

So, are your walnuts blanched?

No, our process does not involve any blanching or boiling.

Why do my walnuts still have some skin?

Walnuts have a lot of nooks and crannies, so it's difficult to remove 100% of the skin, but we do our best. But don't worry, our walnuts still taste better due to our process, even with a little bit of skin!

Where do the walnuts come from?

The Central Valley of California!

What's the best way to store these walnuts?

While you don’t need to refrigerate them, we highly recommend that you do so they stay fresh for longer. You can also freeze them if you know that you won’t be able to eat them for a while. Make sure you store them in airtight containers as nuts absorb smells.

How long before the walnuts go bad?

A general rule of thumb is about three months unrefrigerated, 6 months refrigerated, and up to two years frozen.

Walnut Butter

What should I put this on?

Whatever you want! We're big fans of it on yogurt, ice cream, toast, noodles, and in sauces!

Is it gluten-free? Vegan?

Yes and yes! 🥳

How do I store it?

Keep it in the fridge! There are no additional oils, stabilizers, or artificial preservatives.

Why is there separation?

Separation is natural. Just give it a stir and enjoy!

We’re located in Los Angeles, California.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet, but we hope to one day. We will make an announcement on the website and on Instagram when that changes.

Depending on what options you choose, usually about 2-5 days after your order has been shipped. Tracking information will be provided in an email.

What's your return policy?

Due to the nature of our products (food!), we are not able to refund or exchange orders once they have shipped. But if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason please contact us at hi@eatwalnuts.com and we will make it right.

The Company

Why is it called Valley Walnut?

We went back and forth on names, but once Geoff brought up Valley Walnut, we knew it would be a winner. It’s a combination of being from the San Gabriel Valley and where we get our walnuts.
